1. Recognize your place
It is really important to know where your going to give a speech.
If you already know your scenery, you can deduct some points from that such as:
- Is it big or small ?
Big place gives you more comfort for walking across a stage, and with a small stage you might feel a little bit stuck in place - How people will sit ?
People can sit about 4 meters in front of you, which will make you more comfortable and reduce stress, or your listeners could surround you, causing a lack of space and more nervousness - Do you have a podium ?
This also helps to create more comfort, but speakers who only speak from the podium may look a bit closed to the audience. Also with the podium you can carry notes which helps a lot.
2. Attracting attention
I’ve already said what you have to do to get the attention from your audience right here.
But that was only in the first introductory statement, you need to do much more to hold attention, like:
- Straighten up
I hope I don’t have to tell you how to do that, your audience will treat you with respect and dignity - Breathe through your stomach
Also known as diaphragmatic breathing.
It can be beneficial for improving vocal quality and reducing strain on your vocal cords. - Exaggerating a few important words
It helps to show to the audience what you care about most, and it is often done by repetition.
3. Speaking rate
Your speed of talking might occur in 3 ways.
- Too fast
Shows nervousness, high stress, you could even swet at this point. - Too slow
Kills attraction, boredom, or don’t know what to say. - Perfect
Ideal speach consist of both of these.
Thanks to slow talking people can have time to think about what I just said.
Thanks to fast talking people won’t fall asleep during your speech .
I hope you will use this tips and show yourself to the world as the best orator.
